Have you ever started a project and
wondered at the results?!?!
HERE is a fun spin on a technique I did that I call 'Stained Glass'. I changed it up and am In-Love with the results... but like some deep loves, they took time to come about.
My dear friend and stamper, Christine, came to play on her birthday. We were using the Stained Glass technique with the Sunflower Background Stamp (Idea Book). This stamp is loaded with extremely fine lines. Fine lines can/will blur when heat embossed. This makes it challenging.
I decided that it would be fun to play with the technique and the embossing powder colors.
On Vellum Card Stock, using Versa Mark stamp pad and the Sunflower Background Stamp with Clear Embossing Powder and our Heat Gun (all from the Idea Book & Catalog).
Clear embossing Powder looks pretty cool. Painting with the Aqua Pen and Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie re-inkers the image does not come out in grand detail. But the details that dooooo come out, the bold colors, the clear glass look?!?
WOW!
Christine and I were stumped...
WHAT do we lay it on?!?!
Now, mind you, this was after 8pm and we were both a little blurry eyed - lol. We tried several backgrounds, Specialty Designer Series Paper, Crumb Cake...
Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie... these two were our more 'favorites' but after creating the Stained Glass look, we were stumped on what do do with this... it was vastly different and yet, the same technique!

Leaving the embossed and colored Vellum card stock out over night, I placed this on the back burner...
to create this the next day!
I knew that Vanilla wouldn't do but Daffodil Delight was not as dark as others while reflecting color through and enhancing the 'splashed' (Aqua Painted on colors). The gloss of the Clear embossed pattern allows for the colors to lay in the non-embossed areas...
I debated the using the Cute Clips (see the card on the right on Daffodil Delight). This word bubble from the Hung Up version of the Cute Clips (Spring Mini) was a temptation.
But, like Coco Chanel often said, take the last accessory off and your outfit is complete...
I figured I did not need it to 'speak' this sentiment.
Stamping 'Laughter is the shortest distance between two people' by Victor Borge (Spring Mini ~ Feel Goods stamp set). It fits PERFECTLY in the Apothecary Accents Framelits that, with the Big Shot, create great shapes!
Victor Borge is a favorite performer of mine. My father would sit up at night, waiting for me to return home from work, and we would often watch Victor Borge perform on late-night television.

My son picked the Espresso button from the Neutrals Designer Series Buttons collection (Idea Book & Catalog). He said that Sunflowers have brown centers for the seeds. Don't you just love it that he is so simple in his vision? I do.
The Daffodil Delight flower buttons, from the Brights Designer Series Buttons collection (Idea Book & Catalog). This fills the niche on the punched sentiment perfectly.

Allow the edges to curl, from the water and heat.
Sometimes, the best comes from just trying something new, and seeing past what looks like less than
to seeing the true beauty of it in a new light.
THIS may now be my favorite card.
Something wild, fun and funky... full of color.
The Sunflower is clear and different...
