RePurpose that Bottle!! Make a vase from a vintage sarsaparilla bottle

I was raised in the dawn of recycling as a kid... I remember the beginnings of this trend that is going even stronger these days!  So taking and Recycling, Repurposing and Reusing items is a fun way to incorporate this Eco Friendly way of life!!  Combining one of my favorite places, with my favorite past time and being eco-friendly... what a fun way to play today!

What do you think?!?  Leave me a comment and let me know. Share this, Pin, Facebook, Email, Tweet, Google+ and FOLLOW ME on these paths.... on YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and more, too!
We adore our time at the Lake... Big Bear Lake is our regular go-to for a quick escape.  We love that with the lake views we have, from our room, to the fun excursions and family time.  Bringing these Sarsaparilla bottles home from a recent tour of the adorable Big Bear Museum... I had in mind to transfer them to a sweet vase!!

OK so I'm not 100% sold on how they came out.. but they are a fun trip down a new crafting path with something old looking.
I was so excited to capture this rainbow from the view off our deck... the lake is our place of rest and refuge...
When our youngest finally tuckered out, awww... the Lake lends itself to our getting some deep rest... I hope this project brings you some refreshment.
My hubby knows.. his wife loves vintage root beer... sarsaparilla brings back memories of my beloved Grandparents, Dad (who look down on us) and my Aunt De (who still kicks my tushy.. lol).

So I snagged and brought home these bottles from our recent trip.
Vintage paper works with this vintage bottle.  Etcetera Designer Series Paper packet (#130129) is a great antique style collection.

Wrapping the bottle in Baked Brown Sugar card stock (#131296) for a neutral bottle look.
My hubby and the gang on the bridge to the ol' tavern at the Big Bear Museum.  We couldn't wait to taste the sarsaparilla!!
Adding a bead of hot glue to the Etcetera paper and applying the Baked Brown Sugar Ruffled Stretch Trim (#130022) for a feminine accent.
Using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool (#122334) and scoring every 1/4" of this 1-1/2" x 12" strip of this Lacy page.  Hot glue to the front of this bottle.. it reminds me of a fan in an old fashioned watering hole.

Adding an accent to the center of this Lolly/Rosette with our Antique Brads (#117273) and the adhesive backed Large Pearl Basic Jewels (#125577) inside of the Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (#127555).  This 'closes' the open gap of the Lolly/Rosette while adding an additional level of vintage elegance.  Hot glue fills the center and a bead of hot glue around the opening holds the top in place.
Wrapped for a fun view from the back to the front.
It warms my hear that you came by today.  I try to post daily and would love to know what you think of this and my projects with a comment and a share!  Bring your friends along.. for this tour of the good ol' times.

Go ahead, grab some of those old bottles you were about to toss in the recycling bin... make them into something new!  I could just imagine this on the kitchen window of a country farm... Re-Purposing allows for new life to be given to something old.. while saving a little bit of the Earth!!  (It looks fun and funky - trendy and vintage, too!)  What will YOU Re-Purpose and Reuse?!  Leave me a comment and let me know!  Take a new look at something old!!

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
