Memories in a jar

Memories are made and hopefully the pictures make it off your smart phone and not just onto your computer... so finding a fun way to take the memories we have and re-making them into something that is more.  I LOVE my Memory Celebrating Monday posts - they have me printing them from my phone (see this cool app and my gift to you!).  Here is one unique and fun way to Celebrate your Memories while making a cool decoration that will inspire memories and conversation in your sharing them with others!

Childhood Memories... I still can remember when my Aunt Dee took us to Avila Beach and we snuck some small crabs, live, home in our buckets... some didn't' make it and ewwww - she was not pleased with her daughter and I.. lol.  Giving my kids wonderful memories and then documenting them goes for a dual gift - one day, when they are telling their therapist that I messed them up, I have picture proof that I wassss a good mom (lol) and yes, they do get some good memories in between the challenging ones.

Living close to the beach here in Southern California we enjoy this nearly free (the cost of gas and any foods we eat out) day-cation.  I love that when I saw these cute jars, that remind me of my Nanna's kitchen, at the Dollar Tree I stocked up.  Grabbing TWO and some friends we hit the beach for our recent Spring Break.
My friend Elizabeth has two boys right about my kid's ages and yes, they go to school together.  I've been blessed by my friendship with Elizabeth and these sweet boys.  I have a large car that fits us to a T!  It's a fun road trip and time together - we tag team the kids while nabbing some adult conversation.
Fill them up!  From food and treats into the kids to sand, shells, seaweed, flowers and even part of a crab (that took a long while not to smell).  I love that this fun scavenger hunt took the 'collections' the kids brought us.  I LOVE how this will become a fun 3D memory the kids and us will craft.  It sits proudly on our formal dining table (that is always covered in my crafting projects - lol).  Elizabeth has hers and they remind me of a Best-Friends necklace of my youth - lol.

This would make a wonderful gift for a Grandparent, their loves making a collection (that is pretty and contained) that will proudly decorate their homes (or a Father's Office, Mother's Office, etc.)
Create a cool hand-stamped acsent with our By the Seashore stamp set.  Simply stamping a pretty sea shell in Pool Party ink then layering the Sand Dollar with Crumb Cake ink on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Using the Decorative Label Punch - pop out this image - they will 'fall off' the edges for a cool look.  Simply write the date, location, memory with our Gold Stampin' Dazzle Marker and add some pretty Gold to this project.

Using the 1/8" Circle Handheld punch to pop a whole in and make it into a tag!  Using the Gold Baker's Twine is a fun addition of subtle shine and richness.  The thing is, the Metallic Baker's Twine is awesome but can unravel.

See this secret to using it and don't Un-Ravel!

Memories can be made, celebrated and documented in many ways.  Yes, I'm taking these photos from our day and I will pop them into a Project Life Documenting Page... our book yearns for these memories - lol.  I've made duplicates of these pictures for Elizabeth and my kids to use in their This and That booksMemory Making, Celebrating and Documenting is a great way to see where we were to where we are and the path along the way.  Here there is a fun and decorative memory accent to our home and table that brings a smile to our face when we talk to others about it.

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
