Tie Dye hand-stamped butterfly card

Create a fun nod to the 60's (or 80's) with a cool tie-dyed accent to this twilight feeling hand-stamped card!!  OK so when I see this, logically I know that there are not blue wood fences out htere... or not many.  But this card brings me the feel of a twilight where everything takes on a new shade and feel.  This fun hand-stamped card has some unique tips in using this specific tool to create a cool card.

I love the look of a knot in wood.  Start by having stamped the Marina Mist inked Hardwood background stamp on the Marina Mist card stock base.  Use the Scallop Oval Punch to punch out this knot in the wood.  SAVE your scrap!  Don't try to fit the Perfect Plum inked Life's Adventure HOSTESS EXCLUSIVE stamp set into the whole - stamp the scrap oval and adhere it (with SNAIL) to the inside of the knot!  Shhhh - sometimes, working backwards makes for less of a struggle - lol.

Soften the edges of the Scallop Oval punched 'knot' with the Perfect Plum inked Stampin' Sponge for a coordinated look with depth.

Create this cool tie-dye hand-stamped butterfly with this cool technique!!  Simply use a Baby Wipe (I like to stack two or three) and drop random re-inker drops.  I paired the Marina Mist, Rose Red and Perfect Plum together with the aide of the Color Coach (my hero in crafting!!).
This custom ink pad can be messy!!  I have a few plastic lids or containers that came from pre-packaged foods.  I like to use the container that will have a lip while allowing my hand and the block with the stamp to easily get in and out.  Stamp around to 'blend' the colors - I use a few of each color and am sporadic in placement.  I love the results!!  WOW!  See how these Butterflies from the Papillion Potpourri stamp set comes to life with this cool retro technqiue.

Re-Inkers/Ink Refills are for the ink pads and a MUST to own!!  When you purchase your ink pads, purchase the coordinating Ink Refill - this way you are always ready to use the inks and if they dry out - you are set to continue crafting!

Tool Tip Tuesday:
To use the Re-Inker/Ink Refills to re-ink your ink pads, start with the ink pad being open, the same color Ink Refill and a Plastic Spoon.  I keep the same spoon and rinse it off each time I use it (less waste).  Add drops around the top of the ink pad, less than 8-10 drops.  Rub the round/back of the plastic spoon across the top of the ink pad to spread the ink around.  Let the ink pad sit open for a couple of minutes.  It will be super 'juicy'.  I like to close it and leave it for an hour to assure that the ink re-surfaces to the top of the ink pad.  Again, I rince and reuse my spoon - this way I'm not wasting and have my handy tool available at a moment's need.
WOW-zaz!!  I LOVE the results!!  The cool thing is that each is an individual!!  Stamp it on the Very Vanilla.  If you don't like it, re-ink it on your custom ink pad for the results you want.  Paper is double sided - so fill up your Very Vanilla, punch out the ones you like and turn the paper over to use the back!  Stamping one of the tie-dyed butterflies on the coordinating envelope for additional wow!  Add them to the card with dimension using the Stampin' Dimensionals.

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
