Let the journaling begin

I've been "stalking", lol, on-line a friend of mine, Melanie, who does art journaling.  Another friend, Jackie, I "stalk" on Facebook does Bible Journaling.  So recently I took a class that took me out of my comfort zone in art journaling.  I love how it dragged me, kicking and screaming, out of my comfort zone but brought it back when I incorporated my love of rubber stamping.  Vivid colors, art that is personal.. layers.. see the fun I had at this recent class.
I used these stamp sets on these art pages:
Watercolor Words (photopolymer 138702)
Heartfelt Sympathy (photopolymer 138764)
Black Archival ink pad (140931)

Layers, layers and more layers... so my friend Melanie is an amazing mixed media art journalist.  I may enjoy it but I'm simpler in my art.  I followed her directions on each layer.  These jewel toned blues are definitely my favorite colors.  Creating this look with Silks Acrylic Glazes and paint brushes.  With stencils, the Silks paints, a texture paint (I can't remember the name, sorry) we added layer upon layer.

Out of my comfort zone.. oh yeah, completely!  I added each layer per her instruction and though it may have 'killed' me I actually like the results as a form of art.  Adding additional texture using our Heat Tool to set the paints and add bubbles was a fun and new-to-me use for my heat embossing tool.

I had to add my own touch.  Using the Watercolor Words stamp set and the Archival Black ink pad (which is great for Photopolymer stamp sets and non-porous surfaces, like this painted journal page) for some inspirational words.
Oh sigh... so after the process of layering on the blue page I found myself needing to do something more my style.  Jewel tones, focal points and this beautiful Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set and Black Archival ink pad.  I did find that having the blue page, it's layers and embellishments, on the other side of this second page made rubber stamping a challenge.  I love this inspirational quote on a card, it reminds me of our Project Life cards that I use in Memory Documenting.  I am so excited to find a new use for these great cards!!

I love teaching card making and paper crafting.  I'm also branching out into Bible Journaling in my 'spare' time.  My heart yearns for a deeper, more tangible connection with The Lord's Word.  (Look for my journey in my Journaling posts coming up.  Here is my first!)  I love that art is personal.  Created for myself and not others.  This took me out of my comfort zone.  I'm glad to have experienced this, to have grown a little and to have actually enjoyed this experience.  Join Us in creating art, in the form of hand-stamped cards.  I'll also be offering Bible and Art Journaling times coming up - not classes, more like times to connect over art and God's Word.

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
