Much like Punch Art - taking a different look at your stamp can lend it's self to some fun changes in how your hand-stamped cards will come out.  Ink the Chocolate Chip ink on the Hardwood Background Stamp and stamp onto the Crumb Cake card stock.  Take apart the Hardwood Background stamp with your Paper Snips*.  Separating them allows for this cute 'fence'.  I purposefully tilted one of the 'posts' to allow for a fun country feel.  Accent with the 1/8" Mini Brads - using the 1/16" Handheld Punch to make it easy to push in the brads with ease.

Use the Fringe Scissors and create this cute 'grass' on a 1/2" strip of Garden Green card stock.  Punch these cute Tangerine Tango flowers with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch flower and scrunch the flowers and add the tiny adhesive backed Pearl jewels to the centers.

(*A MUST Have for ALL Crafters - the Paper Snips are super sharp, precision blades with an amazing cutting tip!!)
Stamping.. the Cottage Gardens stamp set is super cute!  Perfect for this country feeling hand-stamped card.  It also ties in with the Cottage Garden Card Kit (makes 15 cards, 5 of 3 designs #138377).

Creating leaves with a punch using material can be a real challenge (or even impossible!).  Here taking the Felt from my daughter's birthday party sleep mask craft (we created custom sleep masks - lol - for her sleep-over).  This is not able to be punched in a paper punch.  Using our new Bouquet Bigz Die (from the Occasions Mini Catalog) and Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine I can cut through two sheets of felt with ease (like butter!!).

Here die-cutting four of the smaller leaves and six of the medium leaves gives me the makings of a beautiful flower out of this ivory felt.  Note the split on the bottom of each leaf.  These are to be overlapped to create a curved petal.
Start with the smallest leaves and thread onto the back of our Antique Brad and overlap them as you do.  The larger leaves I sewed and then added to the back of the brad and felt.  Using Hot Glue to add a ribbon to the hair clip. Add the flower to the ribbon/hair clip with more hot glue.

This would be a lovely gift for a wedding bouquet, gifts for the bridal party (sorry, my oldest daughter, cousin's daughter and as of this weekend my neice are all engaged - it's on my mind) and gifts for my daughters to create for their friends.

Of course, one has to try out and model this hair bow - lol.  My dear friend has a STUNNING baby girl - an answered prayer - who is full of joy and lights up the lives of all she touches.  I created this pretty hand-crafted bouquet hair bow gift for this angel of a girl.  I loved giving a little bit of my crafting to adorn a beautiful little baby and lovely enough to last her a long time.  Give a little bit of yourself in a gift that keeps on giving.  I love knowing that every time she wears this, a little bit of my love will be with her.

I love vintage accents in my home.  Creating a fun and interesting magnet to add some paper-crafting joy and inspiration to my kitchen was fun and easy to do.  The new Bouquet Bigz Die took my scraps of the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper and created this big blossom of a flower.  Die-Cutting 6 of the two sized leaves.  The centers are split up so that you can overlap it and create this curled leaf look.  Adhered together using my Hot Glue Gun for an over sized WOW flower.

Die-Cut the Center with the Blushing Bride card stock.  Center using the Antique Brads for a fun and easy accent that ties into the style of the hand-crafted paper flower.  Using my Bone Folder to curl the edges of the die-cut leaves.

The large variety of our double sided Designer Series Papers gives so many options to personalize your flowers.  The Bouquet Bigz Die (from the new Occasions Mini Catalog) is designed to create a large variety of flowers and accents for your hand-stamped cards to gift giving.

Give it a base.  Here the scallop punched Basic Grey card stock is a great base to this flower.  Adding the magnet will allow for it to accent an office or my kitchen!

Vintage Valentines Love hand-crafted card making tutorial

Valentine's Day started in 496 (WOW) and in the 18th Century the art of sending Valentine's Day cards came to America.  I love how this historic celebration of love is still practiced today!  So in a nod to the days of old, this Vintage Valentine was hand-crafted at our recent Valentine Palooza Card Making Class.  See how fun it is to take a trip to the past and revel in the beauty of old fashioned looking Valentine Day Cards.  I love how these new paper crafting tools, embossing folders, thinlits, stamp sets, embellishments and more can create a lovely vintage hand-stamped card.

I adore this new Bundle in the Occasions Catalog!!  The Crazy About You stamp set has 33 stamps that perfectly coordinate with the Hello You thinlits.  Here you create a custom saying that fits your exact need.  Stamp your sentiment (here the 'Love') with Stazon Jet Black ink pad.  Emboss the Blushing Bride card stock (4-1/8"x 5-1/4") with the Happy Hearts embossing folder in the Big Shot.  This will give you a clear stamped image (versus stamping after embossing).

Die cut a strip of Very Vanilla card stock using the Hello You thinlits on the Magnetic Platform and Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  Adhere with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive as the lines are sooo thin!!

Punch 8 hearts using the Sweetheart punch and vintage Typset Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Fold four together and use the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive down the seam of each to stack these four punched hearts.  Fluff for a cool look and adhere to the embossed card front with Stampin' Dimensional Adhesive.

Accent with the Antique Brads, Artisan Rosettes, Venetian Crochet Trim and adhesive backed Pearl Jewels.

Combing colors can deliver wow results.  Here the Color Coach pairs this trio for a stylish look.  Stamping the Thanks from the Seasonally Scattered rubber stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink on the Daffodil Delight card stock pops.  Soften the edges with the Cherry Cobbler ink sponged along the edges using the Stampin' Sponges.  This adds warmth and age to this pretty image.

Using the 1-1/6" handheld circle punch pierce where you want to add your antique brad.  I love the look of this scrolled, vintage and nature look to this brad.  It really adds to the style of the stamp.  Layer and adhere using the SNAIL adhesive for a quick but pretty hand-crafted card that will say so much more than just 'thanks'.

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
