A simple card can still be fun!  Simply framing this fun Big News rubber stamped birthday wish with joyous paper you don't have to do a ton to make a statement.  (It's also a way to use scraps of paper and to get the most out of your paper as this is only a 1/2"!)

With the new Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper stack I have a great variety of festive and celebration type images in one pad of pretty double sided paper!  I love how they perfectly coordinate with our inks and papers.
OK so you can't mail a lit candle - lol.  You can create a candle that will never go out, though!

Using a 2" x 1" piece of the Cherry On Top stack, roll the edges of the 2" side with your Bone Folder (like you'd do on a ribbon on a gift package).

Once you have broken down the fibers to do as you wish adhere a glue dot to one corner and apply your folded Gold 1/8" ribbon (it's so shiny!!) to create a loop (that will become your 'flame').

Roll the paper with the ribbon tucking into the inside to create a small tube.

Apply three Glue Dots along the edge of the paper and adhere to create the candle!  Super easy and yes even my kids can do it, it's fun too!

Celebrate life and moments with others.  I really had a blast creating this card with the kids at our camp and with my team and friends, who helped me prep for my swaps. Cards are rarely even mailed this day and age - so take time to create and send a pretty hand-stamped card.  Join Me in creating fun, festive and cool cards that YOU can use to bless others in our card making classes.  I can not wait for the upcoming Convention (this week!!) where I will learn about the newest products, create new things, bring home the upcoming Holiday Catalog and spend time with My Gettin' Crafty Stampin' Team (and 4,000 other crafters).  I hope that you find a little joy in this card and create one of your own.  Happy Stamping!

You are the best hand-stamped card

Start with the chevrons that are created when using the Banner Triple punch.  I created so many that it was a shame to toss away these cute shapes!  Instead, layer them and turn it into a focal point on a hand-crafted card.  Glue Dots work wonders to hold them together and easily adhere them to your card.

Take this cute card up a notch.  I had extra die-cut butterflies (see the book mark for an example and tutorial).  Using them on this cute card takes it up a layer (or two when you use the wax paper piece).
Say it out loud!  Show someone that they are the best.  From an accomplishment to just being themselves... it's great to show someone how amazing they are.  Using the White Craft ink pad it pops with a chalk board type feel on this Basic Black card stock.  POP it up with our Stampin' Dimensional adhesive for additional depth.  This Friendly Wishes stamp set is ideal in sending a hand-stamped card to cheer on that special person!

"One person's trash is another man's treasure" a saying my mom taught me (she's the queen of finds at thrift stores and yard sales).  Take what you may have tossed away as a new element to your hand-crafted cards.  Using this as a Swap for the Inspire, Create and Share Stampin' Up! Convention I will have fun sharing this with 4,000 of my fellow stamping and crafting friends!  Deliver a unique and cheer filled rubber stamped card to someone special.  Join Me in creating little bits of art and deliver cheer to all who receive and see it!

Butterfly bookmark

This week I am in Utah!  My amazing sister is a wonderful author (Tess Hilmo) who writes young reader books (that are amazing!).  We both have the reading passion gene... so for a 3D Swap this week (at Inspire, Create, Share the Stampin' Up! Convention) I am swaping these hand-crafted butterfly book marks!!  Super easy and fun... see how to create and bookmark some crafting in your life!
Create this Butterfly Bookmark with:
Banner Triple punch (138292)
Bold Butterflies thinlits (138135)
Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack (138442)
Old Olive card stock (100702)
Calypso Coral card stock (122925)
Basic Black card stock (121045)
Very Vanilla card stock (101650)
Calypso Coral ink pad (126983)
Handheld Stapler (139083)
Sponge Dauber (133773)
Big Shot Magnetic Platform (130653)
Big Shot Die-Cut machine (113439)
Wax Paper, Dryer Sheet, Paper Clips

The new Banner Triple punch is a great tool everyone needs!!  I love it!  Here creating three banners using the punch in 2", 1-1/2" and 1" I actually cut and scored the card stock - punching the edges at the same time!!  Banners are so fun, on trend and easy to use in crafting!
Die-Cutting this new Bold Butterfly thinlits creates a delicate and pretty lacy paper butterfly with ease!  I will advise using thinlits, like this, in a sandwich of:
Magnetic Platform & a Cutting Plate
Dryer Sheet
Card Stock
Wax paper
Thinlits
Cutting Plate
this allows the delicate lacy lines to pop out with ease and the little chad like pieces to pop out like a breeze!  I do use a toothpick to pop out the butterfly pieces and even use the Wax Paper piece as a gossamer effect.  (See more tutorials on the Basics of Stamping when you click here!)

Add color when you use the Dauber in  the Calypso Coral ink pad for a coordinated look.  Using the Handheld Stapler is ideal as it has a longer reach and smaller stapler all of which is perfect for crafting!!  I stamped the butterfly pieces onto the banner punched pieces that I'd threaded onto the paper clip.  Covering the staple (to protect fingers and books) with the last banner is a simple technique that is easy to do.

Ask ME how YOU can get the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine for FREE or 1/2 OFF!!  With a full collection from the one of the best catalogs in ages - you can be the first to enjoy the awesomeness and score the FREE Items when you book a Private Class with me!

Go ahead, do it... bookmark some crafting fun with ME!  While I'm in Utah (it's so beautiful here!!) and living up the land, family then joining 4,000 stampers at the upcoming Inspire, Create and Share convention - I'm also planning the most amazing Card Making Buffet class that will have all of my goodies from convention to preview and play with (RSVP ASAP for the 31st).  I'm excited to create this hand-crafted butterfly bookmark for those coming to my upcoming classes - perfect to use in the Idea Book and Catalog or in their every-day reading!!

Happy Watermelon Day to YOU!

Celebrate this sweet treat that refreshes the palate and screams SUMMER!!
HAPPY WATERMELON DAY!!
Using my Garden Green card stock (#102584) to create this fun textured and shaped card!
Our Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and the Ovals Collection Framelits (#129381) lend to this fun scalloped oval card.  (Just make sure that your don't cut off the seam that holds the card together, lol.)

Using the Woodgrain embossing folder (#127821) to add that cool look of the pattern on the watermelon.  (Who knew that watermelons cold be so much fun to create?!?!)  Embossing it once it is cut and shaped allows for the texture to be all the way through.. and that is such a fun but subtle addition.
Using my Black Sharpie (or any permanent marker) to color in our adhesive backed Rhinestones Basic Jewels (#119246) for the 'traditional' seeds.

Layered over the Very Vanilla card stock (#101650) the Real Red cardstock (#102482) resembles the inside of the delicious fruit!
(I'd write my greetings then add the 'seeds' where there are openings!
Tie this sweet card up with our vintage, distressed, natural feeling Linen Thread (#104199).  I could soooo see giving this as a gift and the natural feeling thread ties into a farm-fresh feel.

Holding down this tied up thread with the sentiment when you use the Stampin' Dimensional adhesive (#104430).  I placed the thread in-between the sentiment and tag and card... this is a discrete way to hold on an accent like this thread.

Winning this Real Red Goodie Gear Simply Created Kit (#132161) and Oh, Goodie! stamp set (#131889) from the Holiday Catalog (at the Stampin' Up! 25th Anniversary Convention) made me pause.... what to do with this cute kit?!?!!

At my recent class we mulled the sentiments and purpose/use... so pulling this sweet tag out and showing the girls the fun behind these words - and the versatility of use for all year long... I love that it came together with this look!

The Bitty Banners framelits (#129267), Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (#113439) and the new Big Shot Magnetic Platform (#130658) pop out these cute sentiments!

OK so the cute mini wood clip isn't a Stampin' Up! item but I love it and have kept this sweet ladybug clip about.  I think it's just a perfect addition to this project!!
Real Red is a fun note-card to write on and really does look like a sweet melon!  Adding the colored rhinestones for a great look and accessory.

Find reasons to celebrate!
Making my family's life festive is fun and a great way to (hopefully) make memories that they can look back on and smile, remembering a good childhood.
Little things, like National Watermelon Day, are easy ways to inspire cards, crafts, gifts, memories...

I hope that your day is sweet!

Family Banner

Do you ever resent wasted paper??  I love the look of banners but am often frustred by the paper that is unusable.  In our Eco-Friendly world, my stamping friends often take my extras and use them in their other projects.

HERE is a fun and easy project to do with
NO Wasted Paper or Time while
PACKED with FUN!
Using our Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper (#130814) cut into 6" x 6" squares.

Using our Stampin' Trimmer (#126889) and SCORE at 3" (down the middle).

CUT the now SCORED line (at the 3" point) with the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (#113439), Big Shot Magnetic Platform (#130658), zig-zag Finishing Touches Edgelits.  (The Magnetic Platform holds the Edgelit EXACTLY where I want it - on that scored 3" line!)
CUT these strips at 2" intervals and the Designer Series Paper is not wasted!

Here with the Typeset Alphabet Bigz (#127553) the letters F A M I L Y.  Adhere them over this Daffodil Delight (#119683) card stock that was punched with the 1-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch.
The SNAIL adhesive (104332) allows for this to stick together (like a family should) with clean lines and layering.

String it together, our Daffodil Delight 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (#126872) for a clean look that mimics the pattern in the Epic Day paper.

This zig-zag look is ideal, it's the same on both sides!
What a FUN Swap this was at Convention!

My girlfriends and roomies loved this banner, it's easy creation and conservation of paper!

Hang a banner (or two, three, four - lol).  Celebrate occasions, seasons, memories and
what is important to you!

Lemon Thoughts

I love the smell of citrus trees as they bloom in the Spring. Being blessed to live in mild weathered California and have 3 Orange trees, a Palmelo, Mandarin, and a lovely Meyer Lemon tree, my home is full of color, growth and the sweet smell of life.

When my dear stamping friend, Carol, blessed me with an Embroidered Kitchen Towel with stunning lemons on it, I wanted to create a Thank You card for her (which then was modified for one of my Convention Swaps).
This sweet card (or is it tart?) came to life. I love the combination of White, Black and our yellow (Daffodil Delight) look together.
The Big Shot (#113439) and my Woodgrain embossing folder (#127821) ran through in only one area allow me to have multiple leveled look with out multiple levels.

Accented and "zoned off" these 1/8" strips of Basic Black card stock (#121045) is easy and really helps the project pop while coordinating with the Basic Black ink (#126980) stamped Hostess Exclusive Express Yourself (#130339) stamp set.
(DID YOU KNOW... that hostesses are offered stunning exclusive stamps, papers, accessories and tools at a greatly reduced cost?!?!  CLICK HERE for more info on how YOU can join in!)
Looking at this lemon makes my mouth water!!  I grew up picking lemons with my Nanna and Pappa. I would cut them and eat the lemon sprinkled with salt!  Ohhhh the joy this memory brings. (My dad would tell me to stop before I damaged my teeth, lol).

Here the Daffodil Delight card stock (#119683) run through my Big Shot and the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder (#117335). Using the Extra Large Oval punch (#119859) and the circle punch from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (#118309) this lemon is created!  I even made the 'lemon' curl like a real one - using my Stampin' Dimensional Adhesive (#104430) and adhere down one side, bowing it out slightly, adhere the other.  This strong adhesive will hold true to where you place it!
Do you think this card is Fresh?
Tart or Sweet??
Leave me a comment and let me know.

Thank you, Carol!  I just adore my new kitchen towel!!  Many people have commented on it sheer loveliness as it sits prominently in my kitchen. It brings in the fresh fruit look with out having to pick some fruit from our tree!

Vintage Beautifully Baroque

Elegance? (Check)
Vintage? (Check)
Distressed? (Check)
Awesome??  (Check, Check, Check!)

I love card making... and this card was a fun one to make!  With a fun inspiration, one that was in my head for a loooong time... I am so glad to have created it (and 25 of it's siblings) for a swap at the 25th Anniversary Stampin' Up! Convention!!
With our Crumb Cake (#120953) card stock and ink (#126975), Very Vanilla card stock (#101650) this neutral card comes to a rich life!
Shhhh... so I love purses, jewelry, shoes, clothes... when I purchased a Spring-Summer purse this year, this purse caught my eye!

I knew that the moment I owned it, I'd make a card inspired by it.  This is the inspiration for this card.
Stamping our Beautifully Baroque (#130895) stamp on an Embossing Buddy (#103893) prepped card stock with Versa Mark ink (#102283) the Black embossing powder (#109133)  becomes so elegant.

Two for One??  YES!  Using my Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (#113439), Big Shot Magnetic Platform (#130658) and the Apothecary Accents Framelits (#127003).  The shape mimics the Baroque.

Cut in 1/2 and use both sides... on two cards.
The Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder (#130917) and Big Shot take this Very Vanilla to a new level.  Rubbing the embossed surface with our Stamping Sponge (#101610) and Crumb Cake ink for this highlighted the embossing and also distresses it.

Our Hostess Exclusive Express Yourself (#130339) stamped with our Basic Black ink (#126980).
Curl the edges with the Bone Folder (#102300) and sponge it for this elegant look.

I know that this is one of my favorite cards for convention...
what a great swap, if I do say so myself - lol.

I hope that you enjoy this card.  Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.  Pin this, Share it, Facebook, Tweet, Google+, Instagram it...
Remember to Follow me there an on YouTube, The Vine and more...

Thanks for coming by, I look forward to a visit from you, again, soon!!

Bright Butterfly

When my friend Stephany asked me to modify a current card I had with her... I loved the idea!
Here is a fun project we created and change for my Stampin' Up! Convention.  It sure is a great way to brighten the day of a friend!
Please let us know what you think with a comment!!
With a Pumpkin Pie card stock base (#105117), Basic Black card stock (#121045) primes this card for a fun look.

Heat emboss the Swallowtail (#129216) background stamp.  Prep the card stock with our Embossing Buddy (#103083) and stamp, with our Versa Mark pad (#102283) this image.  White embossing powder (#109132) creates a fun chalkboard image look.  Our Heat Tool (#129053) is so quiet and easy to use!
I toted these beauties to Utah and my beloved nieces, Claire and Meagan, jumped in to help me finish my swaps for convention!  Family time rocks!!
This clean image is very pretty.  CLICK HERE to see my original card, inspired by Vera Bradley.
Permanent Markers in this bright turquoise really POPS on this background!
Adding a fun bright orange to tie in the paper and remind me of one of my favorite butterflies, the Monarch.

I can't wait for convention!
Thousands and thousands of women and some men will fill the Salt Lake City Convention Center as Stampin' Up! Celebrates their 25th Anniversary!

Join me as I will be posting pictures and more on my blog!  CLICK HERE to see my upcoming classes!  The 26th will be my Bringing Back Convention class... see what is new and have fun creating unique cards!

Another of my swaps... Going lacy

Did I mention that I LOVE our Color Coach?? I may start out with a color and then find the coordinating colors for the card (or outfit lol)

Here I started with Crumb Cake ink and Paper and the Color Coach showed Chocolate Chip as the monochromatic color balance for it.

With our new Delicate Doily Sizzlits, the Big Shot and the Delicate Designs Folder helped to create this lovely card. I punched out the doilies in both both Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake. I ran the Chocolate Chip paper thru the folder to create the lacy edge. I thought the larger doily was too plain do I stamped, with Crumb Cake, the Gossamer Lace lil stamp. Sooo cute and it really tied it all together.

The crochet lace ribbon we sell sealed the deal. I alternated the doilies and created this card. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with our Decorative Label punch. I stamped the Gossamer lace over the Garden Green sentiment from the Perfectly Penned greeting set.

I hope you feel all lacy. I love this new line of lace and doilies, don't you??

During convention people asked if Arabella helped stamp my cards. Lol. My 6yr old,Genevieve, and hubby pushed the lil chads out of the punched doilies with our stylus. My 4 yr old, Carina, ran about picking up the 45 cards worth of chads that ended up on the floor and not in my trash bibs. Lol. My 14 month old helped turn the handle on the Big Shot. My 8 yr old son, Sal, skateboarded outside telling me that this card was too girly. Lol. They all help, in their own way.

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
