American Pride

Not a ton will get me choked up...
My Family (of course),
My Pride in the Great Nation we live in,
My Work and Passion for Blessing Others...

So, when you can combine two or more of these.. this girl who doesn't necessarily like teary emotions will get teary!
HERE is my angel, my mini me, my sassy, fun and passionate girl Genevieve!  She celebrated Living History today at her school.  I had big hopes for what she'd be.. Betsy Ross, Amelia Erhart... she stuck with and demanded the
Statue of Liberty...

Her Speech (1st grader, mind you) :
My name is Genevieve but today
I will be speaking as the Statue of Liberty.
I stand 305 feet tall.
I am made from sheets of Copper
wrapped around a Steel structure.
I'm a gift from France.
I debated, do I go purchase a costume kit??  WHEN would we EVER wear it again??  NOPE - instead I went through our linen closet and pulled a light blue/green sheet out.
(Sadly, I could only find the bottom sheet
with the rounded corners - lol -
but I figured I could hide that when I wrapped her up - lol -
NOPE, she unwrapped before the production! lol)

I then grabbed our Pool Party 12x12" card stock and took two sheets, our graph paper and Paper Snips.
Creating the 7 points to her crown signifies the 7 Seas.  Taking two strips of  card stock made for the perfect size for her head and the 7 - 3" wide points.
My daughter drew in the windows on the crown...
We rolled a piece of Pool Party to create the torch.
Using napkins I filled the base, creating a place for her battery operated tea light (yes, her torch lit up!).
Vellum card stock played the flames...

The Scallop Trim punch created the wrap around the torch top.  Easy and fun - this is our girl in all her splendor!

I couldn't resist a hug and kiss.
I may not have seen the actual Statue of Liberty - yet - but holding her filled me with awe and pride!

Her little BFF's just go to show the diversity and fun of this production!
Our Class - they couldn't be much cuter.. I LOVE that they embrace the country we are so blessed to live in!
Paper Crafting does not have to be limited to cards and gifts...
taking a moment to create my daughter's costume, together, will be a special part of our memories of today's show.

What memories do YOU have?
What makes YOU beam with pride?
Leave a comment, let me know...

Pretty Butterflies

Do you ever want to feel like a princess?
I watch the Disney Princess and their ability to call wildlife to their side as their dear friends....
I may NOT be a Disney Princess....
My girls - all 5 - think they are Princesses,
from the oldest who's almost 25 to
my baby girl who's 22 months...
Now, to capture those butterflies and
have them land upon them...
Last week I'd created this jar with a pierced lid, inspired by a Pin from Pinterest... it's a fun way to 'clean up' the scent of one's less than clean smelling rooms... lol

Taking it UP a notch....
with the use of the Jumbo Sticky Rounds (Spring Mini)
Blossom Punch (Idea Book & Catalog),
Vellum Card stock and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits
(Idea Book & Catalog)
The use of a Glass Etching solution
(purchased at a local craft store)
the Jumbo Sticky Round was punched with the Blossom shape.  Apply the Solution as indicated by the packaging and then wash off after - my solution said 5 minutes but I did leave it on 10 - I wanted a darker more 'solid' image.
The punched and embossed image, thanks to the
Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit
created a similar look and feel of the etched glass.
Applying them with the use of a Hot Glue Gun -
they stay 3D and highlight the natural look of the flower.

It's like a bunch of pretty butterflies came to visit our water closet!!  The Butterfly Pierced on the lid continue the feel of this pretty bottle.
We released live butterflies at our wedding...
it's the closest I've ever come to being a Disney Princess!

It's not easy being green

Spring is knocking at our door...
Are YOU ready for it?!?!
When I think of Spring, I think of St. Patrick's Day!
Here is my nod to the flowers budding, leaves growing on my fruit trees and Oranges growing ripe...
It's coming up green, baby!
This FUN card was created using the
Hearts A Flutter Bundle...
the 15% savings just sweetens the deal! (Spring Mini)
This cute Stamp set and coordinating Framelits Dies makes it Easier than EVER to create a fun four-leaf clover.
My Color Coach
(a FAVORITE tool of mine in the Idea Book & Catalog) suggested Old Olive and Certainly Celery as
Monochromatic siblings...

Using the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper in Old Olive and the Simply Scored Board and Scoring tool created this cute lolly/rosette as the base for my Good Luck/Love Clover.  I needed a 'break' from the two so using the Medium Doily in the Delicate Doilies Sizzlits L and Big Shot in Whisper White creates a white doily to break them up.
Button UP this card (lol) with our Brights Designer Buttons in Old Olive - awww the flower even looks a little like a clover on a clover!

PEARLS!!!!!
I love the shimmer and elegance from the Pearl...
our Basic Jewels adhesive backed Pearls
fit perfectly in the middle of the buttons.
The Distressed Dots background stamp (Idea Book and Catalog)  with Old Olive ink on the Certainly Celery cardstock mimics the polka dots on the paper and the heart-polka dots on this Lucky In Love Clover...

Now, Green may NOT be my favorite color.. but a certain friend in green was a favorite charector of my childhood.
***
Introducing Kermit the Frog to my kids is a great way to bring sweet memories back to life!
My oldest daughter, Gloria, named this card...
she's 25 this year but still a kid at heart.
(Me, too!!)

The Hearts a Flutter stamp set and coordinating framelits has the CUTEST collection of Flags!  Sooo Trendy!!
Inking this cute Teeny Tiny Wishes in Old Olive I stamped the sentiment 'Happy St. Patrick's Day'.

Thennn I inked Certainly Celery ink on this cute striped flag but then I Stamped OFF - this means you stamp the ink and have an even lighter inked image... it's a perfect background to the sentiment but didn't overwhelm it...

The Basic Pearls Jewels page has long stips of connected adhesive backed pearls - here they frame each side of the flag!  Too the pearls continue the dots of the card...
 Are YOU Lucky In Love??
Do You Feel 'It's Tough Being Green' some days...
(I Love Kermit - lol!)

Have FUN with Hearts - they make a lovely clover!
(Who wouldn't want to be lucky in love - lol.)

Happy Boot Day!

Kick up yer heels...
Accessories (like Boots) make me want to do just that!

This Bootiful Occasions stamp set (Idea Book & Catalog) is a Must-Have stamp set that covers it all and with STYLE!
When I think of these star-studded boots, I think leather, wood, style, fun.... so using our Ovals Collection Framelits Dies and Big Shot (Spring Mini), Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series paper, Cherry Cobbler card stock... this card is sure to inspire you to have FUN!
This Natural Composition Specialty paper is actually a glossy printed card stock in 12x12" sheets!  I LOVE this pattern and texture... fun but natural, too!

Heat Embossing keeps that raised glossy feel going - so Heat Embossing with Cherry Cobbler Powder on Very Vanilla card stock and on the actual Natural Composition Specialty paper - the Happy Boot-day sentiment!
Tie this card up with the use of our colored/matching Seam Binding Ribbon and Bakers Twine in Cherry Cobbler!  It's easier than ever to coordinate and 'lasso' the day with the coordinated ribbons, card stocks, embossing powders...

The Naturals Designer Buttons are a fun mix of wood inspired buttons button up the look of these papers and boot!

I felt, too, that the Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker is a match for the brown on the buttons while coordinates with the Cherry Cobbler.  It's easier than ever to accessorize - especially with the aide of the Stampin' Write Marker - lol... if ONLY it'd do this for ALL of my outfits.. lol.
My BFF now lives in Texas but has always sported the cowgirl look... this card makes me wish that her birthday was now - lol... this cute card is sure to BRIGHTEN the day and encourage a fun smile and maybe a country tune or two!

Butterflies Clean It Up

After seeing a fun Pinterest Pin on
how a clear glass jar with Baking Soda
can clean up the smell of a room,
I decided what a FUN way to add interest while
cleaning up the smell of our bathroom...
why not incorporate the use of our Stampin' Up! products.... to make a pretty and eco-friendly air freshener?!?!

Going Eco and Family is important for the body and environment... making it pretty is good for the soul!
With a selection of canning jars I had ordered for Holiday Gifts (another Pin that NEVER happened - ugh!)
I couldn't resist playing with the jars to create this
Eco-Friendly scent remover...
(with 6 kids, various allergies, asthma
and a slew of animals -
the less chemicals, the better!)
With a Sticky Note I used our Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings embossing folder (Idea Book & Catalog) I punched out these butterflies!
(Making sure to do so where it was sticky - lol)

With a Pretty Stampin' Up! patterned hammer
(I nabbed it at the last Convention...) and a
small nail I started to hammer the shape of the
Medium Butterfly.
(This is a small glass jar - so it fit perfectly!)
The Sticky Note holds the shape to the lid while I tapped away... and BAM!!  This CUTE shape is Now on the Lid!!
Fill 1/4 of the way up (or so) with Baking Soda and
I added a few drops of Freesia Oil...
Popped the Lid back on and
I now have an Earth & Family Friendly -
no chemical air freshener for our front bathroom!!
This sweet little jar was supposed to have Pepper Jelly in it...
now houses an all natural scent remover!
With a few shakes through the day our room is sure to be clean and bright smelling!

I grew up and remember myyyyy Nanna having a bowl of Baking Soda in her bathroom - what a fun way to remember her and this vintage remedy is a great 'fix' for our commode.

What can YOU re-purpose?
How would YOU decorate it?!?!
Don't toss those jars in the trash - Re-Use and Recycle!
Leave me a comment and let me know...

Being EcoFriendly is easier than ever...
Making it Pretty is more FUN than ever (lol)!
What would you do with a glass jar?
Grab your Designer Series Papers, Big Shots, Dies, etc and have FUN making the world a beautiful place!!

Pirate's Baseball Birthday Wishes

I'm a TOTAL Sports mom - lol...
My Best Friend is the same way...
Soooo, when her son, James,
celebrates HISssss 11th Birthday....
I couldn't resist being a 'Great Sport' and
sending this Pirate's Baseball Card for the boy!
(Let's Play Ball!!)
The Pirate's Team Colors are Black and Yellow so using our
Daffodil Delight and Black card stocks with the
Whisper White as an accent color this card comes to life!

Heat Embossing the images from the Great Sport stamp set (Idea Book & Catalog) is a sure fire way to make a crisp and strong image.  Here with Itty Bitty Banners greetings stamp set (Idea Book & Catalog) embossed with White powder on the Black card stock and layering with the Stampin' Dimensional adhesive...
it jumps out at you!
My friend, lol, the Big Shot played a major part in this card....
With the White Card stock embossed with the Honey Comb Embossing folder & Big Shot (Spring Mini) it reminds me of the chain link fences at the games.

The Bitty Banners Framelits & Labels Collection Framelits (Idea Book & Catalog) cut out while adding perfect layers to the card.  I was worried it'd look feminine and
James is ALL BOY....
but the sharp colors, embossing, theme
prevents this from being girly!
Highlighting the Stitches on the baseball with a red was easy... the Color Coach (Idea Book & Catalog) pairs the Daffodil Delight with the Cherry Cobbler.  It is subtle but perfect as a highlight... I LOVE our Stampin' Write Markers!
Goooooo Pirates!  (Gooo James!)
(Unless we are playing this team for my son's games - lol)
James celebrates his 11th Birthday in Texas while we send our LOVE from California!

What Teams do YOU Cheer On?!?!
Leave me a comment,
I may create a card in your team's colors!

Do YOU have a Big Shot?!?!
It is sure to be your best friend in crafting, if you do!
Try it out at one of my classes,

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
