Yippee, It's Summer!!

When I think of Summer... I remember the last day of school... running from Elementary school singing (at the top of my voice) "No More Homework, No More Books... No More Teacher's Dirty Looks!!"  (Did YOU Sing this... if so, you are probably singing it now - lol...)

Much like my children now do (to my dismay) I'd be awake at the crack of dawn the next day... excited to cram as much fun in as possible... it was Summer and I didn't want to miss a thing!!

Here is my nod to summer, the excitement my kids (all kids) have.  What do YOU think??  Leave me a comment and let me know!!
I'm having fun here with our Storybook Friends (#126737) with this scrambling pup... he is galloping to chace this fun ball... play along with this pup and me... card making has meeee get excited (just like this!)!
Taking a twist on the 'grass' with our Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper (#130144) I lay out the size trim I want.  I then lay it (with out) adhesive and then Stamp this excitable pup so that the sentiment lays on the 'grass' and he is on the Whisper White card stock (#100730).
Moving the 'grass' aside allows me to now brayer the sunset with out touching this beautiful DSP.
Stamping the pup on a mini sticky-note so that the adhesive will be on the image after I cut it out.  It will now layer and 'protect/cover' my stamped image.  Using the Soft Suede ink (#126978) as is suggested by (one of my favorite) tools the Color Coach(#130118).
The Color Coach assists in what colors to match, percentages, monochromatic sibling, different matches... I LOVE my Color Coach!!  I've been known to pair colors together with most cards and EVEN my Closet (my clothing addiction really needs some direction - lol).

Here, using Soft Suede for the pup, loading my brayer with our new Crisp Cantaloupe (#131176) and it's friends Pink Pirouette (#126956), Calypso Coral (#126983) for a fun sunset look.
Loading my Brayer with the lightest color and then 1/2 way across the next color then at the far end the darkest... when you roll it over the covered pup.. you now have a fabulous sunset/rise!!
(Oh the day of playing outside until the sunset... my kids don't have this joy but I remember it well.)
Uncovering the Pup, applying the stamped 'grass' and coloring in the spots with my Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker (#131261 for the Neutrals Color family of Stampin' Write Markers).

With my Word Window Punch (#119857) and 1" Circle Punch (#119868) and our Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper for this fun feature and ball.  I love that the retro look reminds me of those grocery store balls with swirled colors!!
A rolling ball, excitement for the warm-school-free days... oh the joy of childhood!!  (Now as a mom.... lol.... it's a different joy of less running around but whew to have my kiddos underfoot all the time...).

Accomplish the fun of summer - you can sponge colors to build them for a similar effect.  Masking any image allows you to preserve what you have underneath.  Here my Pup is bright white and the ability to cover his ears and spots now able due to covering/masking with my aide of the sticky note!

How do YOU Celebrate Summer??
Beach runs? Family Vacations?? Road Trips???
As a mom to early rising kids... I'm up early and rarely get to sleep in (sleeping in is 8:30 am - lol).  I often run my kids about with a power walk/bike ride, play dates, beach days, library visits... family vacations, road trips and camping.

I hope your summer is full of FUN, Freedom and Excitement!  Come play with Meeee and Celebrate life... get excited to craft and stamp!!

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
