York Birthday Wishes

Want to wish someone a rich, cool birthday?!?!
Show some love and get inspired by your favorite candy!!
(Can you guess which candy bar inspired
this sweet card?!?!)
OK so if you haven't figured it out, it's my favorite candy bar - the York Peppermint Patty!!
The Pacific Point card stock base and Aluminum Foil (yes, from my kitchen - it's a sure fire way to secure a Sharp and Shiny metal look) this card comes to life!
Foil is a delicate material - not used (often) for crafting... but cutting it with my Stampin' Trimmer was easy peasy!!  Running it through my Big Shot (Idea Book & Catalog) and the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (Spring Mini).  What a sharp and yet lacy look!
Ohhhh - seeing it come to life gives me the urge to rip open this wrapper... but I digress.
Running a Pacific Point card stock through the Big Shot and the Paper Doily Sizzlits L this sweet center is ideal and so pretty when layered over the Whisper White card stock.

Heat Embossing in Silver this Curly Cute Greetings stamp set on a strip of Whisper White card stock.  The silver is ideal, my children call it magic, heat embossing is such a cool technique!  Embossing with the use of our Big Shot and the Heat Embossing is such fun! (two different ways to achieve texture and dimension)
I'm sooo tempted to nibble...
the thin layer of dark chocolate,
the white, crisp, cool taste of the peppermint...
Sigh.... OK back to my crafting...
BAM!
This cool treat is accented by our Brights Designer Buttons in Real Red and Rhinestone Basic Jewels (Idea Book & Catalog) adhesive backed bling and the Large Rhinestones (Spring Mini) continue the feel of the sparkle and shine.  The Real Red is a great way to break up the blue and silver theme.

What candy is Your favorite?!?!
How can you use it to inspire you?
Leave me a comment, let me know...
I may just make a card from YOUR inspiration!

Stained Glass Sunflower

When my dear friend and fellow stamper, Christine,
loves on you, you know it!  Every birthday, since we've met, she has come with a freshly baked goody (cakes, giant Winnie the Pooh Cookies, and more) in addition to hand made cards and tons of love!!

When Christine celebrates her birthday, I try to do something Bold and Bright (she has a bright and bold soul).  She wanted to come and play on her birthday... so I whipped up this card that she's sure to love.  (What do YOU think?!?!)
With the use of Vellum Card Stock (Idea Book & Catalog) and embossing this Sunflower background stamp in Black - it's the base for a Stained Glass card!

Spritz lightly with water, use the Re-Inkers in Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie (her two favorite colors!).  The New Stampin' Spritzer (Idea Book & Catalog) can be filled with any color but is ideal, too, when just filled with water.
A fine mist is perfect for this technique.
Aqua Painters pull the re-inker ink through and give a great layered technique.  ALWAYS start with the lighter color and build the darker on top of this.

Cutting the Sunflower is easy with our Paper Snips!  The precision edges and pointed tip make it easy and even fun to cut projects out!

Mini Glue Dots adhere it to the
Perfectly Penned Happy Birthday greeting stamped on Whisper White card stock with Pumpkin Pie ink.
A slight error in stamping resulted in a line to the left of the greeting.  Covering it with these Beautiful Wings Embosslits butterflies.  The Big Shot is an essential tool to any crafter's collection. (Ask me about attaining yours for 1/2 off!)

Mini Glue dots adhere this flower down, the white card stock reflects the light through the embossed spaces - resulting in a Stained Glass look and the edges of this cut out flower curl ever so slightly and look (almost) life like!
You may have enjoyed my Award Winning
Stained Glass Butterfly (click HERE to see it in detail) and this is a similar take to the card.

My dear, dear friend DID like this card!
We had fun playing with this technique on her birthday today!  Her favorite colors while also embracing her love of flowers!  Celebrate those you love on their special days!!

Heat it UP!
Do YOU love and play with our embossing powders and new heat guns?!?!  From Elegant Metals, Bold Colors, Iridescent Ice sparkle,  Scented powders... it's limitless what YOU can do with our Embossing Powders, tools and fun!

Sparkling Birthday Wishes

My almost 7 year old wanted to create a Sparkling Birthday Wishes card for her friend Sage... we created this fun card.  Our Shimmer Paper makes adding Sparkle and Shine Easy and FUN!!  Adding Color to the Shimmer Paper is as simple as coloring it in.  I like to Brayer when I'm using a ton of color... otherwise I use markers for little dashes of color.

Here our Cupcake Punch punches out all the pieces of a cupcake worthy of a celebration.  We used our Stampin' Write Markers to color a Pink cherry and green stem.

Using our new Delicate Doilies Sizzlits L and Big Shot with this Designer Series Paper Twitterpated we created these fun doilies to alternate.  The Double Sided nature of our DSP allows for easy coordination and mixing of patterns - that's just sooo popular right now!

It's easy to add dimension with our Stampin' Dimensional Adhesive.  I used the SNAIL adhesive to adhere the doilies on the bottom layer.  Then the floral Doily with three Dimensionals lifts that next layer up... then again with the 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch in Whisper White.

Having punched the cupcake out of the Twitterpated DSP and then the Shimmer Paper... I alternated the pieces.  The whole package of DSP is coordianted in colors and makes it easy to look amazing!

Our Genevieve wanted to 'color in' the Bring on the Cake sentiment (from the Bring on the Cake stamp set from the Idea Book)... she used the Stampin' Write Markers Pen side and had fun coodinating the sentiment to the papers and cupcake/cherry.

This card shines in any light... it's fun and perfect for a 7 year old's birthday party!  Myyyy almost 7 year old had a blast making it... and doesn't she just look so cute??
(I'm biased, I guess.. lol)

What can YOU do with the Shimmer Paper??  Have fun with our Big Shot and Punches and there is NO Going Wrong!

Thanks for looking!  Feel free to share this with others and comments are always appreciated!  I hope YOUR day Sparkles and Shines!!

For Zia...

John is blessed with several Aunts and an Uncle, all who are married and have families. One of his favorite is his Zia (Aunt) Italia. He grew up with her right next door.

We were told that she had been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and given a short time to live. I don't speak Italian or their dialect fluently but I couldn't not send her a card.

With our Paper Doily Sizzlits L die (they have reworked it and it works better!) I punched out a doily in Crumb cake. Our Large adhesive Pearl is a perfect fit for the center.

We sell cards that are precut, scored and here stamped with a lace on Very Vanilla in Crumb Cake. It's called English Ivy Implement Sentiments (pg 158 of the Idea Book). I used our crochet and our Taffeta ribbon to see which one John would like. We went with the Taffeta in Crumb cake.

With our Apothecary accents Framelets I punched out this Trust in the Lord (stamped with Chocolate Chip in) stamp set from Trust God on page 136. I daubed the edges in Crumb Cake and adhered with Stampin' Dimensional adhesive.

We know that Zia Italia's time is limited and I'm beyond sad over this. She is a warm and loving woman who adores the babies (she just had her great granddaughter born and is loving time with her). With John's family this willl be a huge loss.

I hope that this card sends her a little love. I did wrap up the card by daubing in on the corner thru the doily. The envelopes have the lace on the inside even. She isn't doing well right now and as I send my prayers up for her and my love to her... I hope this card made her feel a little of our love.

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
