Nature, it's rough, it's beautiful, it's soft, it's hard...
there is no escaping it and if we take a moment,
we can enjoy it's sheer awesomeness!
When I think of the men in my life, I remember long walks with my Pappa. He passed away 5 years ago but even today I reach to call him, think of him often and miss him daily. He would have been 99 this past week.
I would have given him this card.
This amazing card reminds me of one of the most amazing men in my life. Our time together was often working with wood, as he repaired something on their property or for a friend or the church, to picking Avocados or Tangerines from their trees on their property.
With Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper as the base for this card, one can't help but feel nature knocking! This glossy, raised pattern of wood is in heavy-weight Natural paper.
It's sturdy enough to be a card on it's own.
One of my FAVORITE Stamp sets is Lovely as a Tree. This set is full of the most lovely trees and nature. Here with Chocolate Chip and Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Markers I painted the leaves to the tree and the grass. (The Color Coach paired these two together and I LOVE the combo!) Coloring in the branches through the top of the tree to the trunk with Chocolate Chip ink is an easy way to make a BIG impact!
Using our Stampin' Distress Tool (Spring Mini) to rough up the edges of the sides I then colored them in with the Chocolate Chip ink. A lovely and rough 'frame' for these images. The Feel Goods stamp set (Spring Mini) has just the best greetings! Here 'The best things in life aren't things' captures it all, doesn't it?!?!
Button it up with these New Naturals Designer Buttons (Idea Book & Catalog) adds a trendy, wood-like adornment.
Tie it up with the Linen Thread and keep the
rough, natural feel of this card.
What do you celebrate?
I love a good hike with my family and friend.
Embrace the quiet moments in life, nature, family and friends. This card does it all!
(It almost makes you wish you could knock on wood - lol.)
HERE is a picture of my Pappa, Ralph Robison, and my son Sal, when Sal was about a year old. They'd talk when ever I called to talk to my Pappa. They would light up when they saw each other.... it was the greatest thing!
Having a legacy of love and strength, faith and character is a wonderful thing!
WHO and what do YOU celebrate?!?!
A friend, family member, coworker... present or past, people may come in our life for but a season but the rings around our heart only strengthen us.
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
Neat card, I love that specialty paper and it works great for your background.
