Oh this man!
On a recent trip with some of my Getting Crafty Family to our OnStage Leadership event in Salt Lake City, Utah - we met this amazing Veteran at the Las Vegas airport.
Bob was sitting in a wheel chair as the hustle and bustle of people leaving their plane occured - people bumping into him, dodging him and walking past him... I noticed him as he sat in his wheel chair smiling at everyone.
Greeting him was the highlight of the day! He was so kind - having served in the Army abroad.. he explained that he'd met his wife in Korea, and was waiting for her and his friends to find the airport escort. He also explained why he was in Las Vegas.
These stars... he showed me these beautiful star in a clear pack. He and his friend, along with their wives, give life to old flags.. the make the stars into these carry gifts. Filled with hope - we watched as his friend approached other veterans in the airport to give them these.
I explained what we do..
we send care packages to Deployed Troops with handmade cards and gifts..
It was a divine appointment.
He agreed to send us some to use in our next care package.
And He Did... over 100 of them with MORE to come for our next shipment to the troops!
He warmed my heart and gave me hope. To say that it is beautiful, these stars, their sweet packaging, the beautiful words and how it gives new life to our Old Glory... His heart as he and his friends, along with their wives, giving these to over 53, 000 soldiers and veterans...
it's so wonderful.
it's so wonderful.
Our care packages...
With the help of our Getting Crafty Family and Getting Crafty Stampers and my children we created these sweet care pacakges.
We wanted to do a nod to childhood memories....
With Rice Krispies, Life Savers candies, cocoas, tea, candy canes and so much more...
along with a handmade card that they can send home to their loved ones...
and the stars....
We complied these little acts of love and hope for those who are serving our amazing country.
God bless our soldiers and their families.. as they serve during these holidays and all year long to provide us a safe and free nation.
Over 75 handmade Christmas cards
(in this shipment)...
my babies were up early with me to make sure each package had everything they needed and were wrapped up nicely...
7 Large Priority Mail Packages were shipped with over 75 care packages.
Our Soldier Fundraiser event this Summer (100 Heroes for our Heroes) raised the funds to load these care packages and ship them to those serving in scary areas..
When Michelle, who heads up this part of our Getting Crafty Family finished the packages with her daughter.. it was wonderful to see what her daughter's Instagram Post, below, received as a message...
When she received this message it warmed our hearts to see that we do make an impact.. it's a small thing we do, items we take for granted and can easily grab with ease but for those serving.. wow.. it's a wonderful way to support those who serve and protect us!
Join us in January...
We will be gathering to Send Love to our Soldiers - sending them Valentine themed care packages.
Until then - thank you for your support.
Thank God for our Soldiers and their loved ones..
Merry Christmas from our Getting Crafty Family
