By the Dock this Father's Day

Celebrating the men in our lives... today is always a bit of a rough day for me - with my father and grandfather having had passed and whom I was very close to each of them.  My son, you can see below, resembles these men in look and heart - my sweet blessing.  So in honor of my husband and his father.. here is a little video tutorial of a fun, vibrant and boat-themed handmade card for Father's Day.  This card has a FUN Surprise that makes it spring forth!

Usually, this time of year, we are celebrating while up in Big Bear Lake, CA.  Right now the lake has limited access so we have postponed our time up there. My husband loves time, in the boat, on the lake... so for him, I woke early and created this hand stamped card to surprise him.
To create this card we will be using the masking technique.
~  Tear a long sticky note to create a sky line.
~  Sponge the bottom of the card, working it's way up starting with the Sponge Daubers and Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point inks up to the mask.
~  Using the other side of the mask, covering the bottom, build up the top with the same technique using Blushing Bride, Highland Heather and Blackberry Bliss inks and their Sponge Daubers.
~  Stamp the By the Dock stamps on the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper with Memento Black ink.
~  Stamp this Father's Day greeting from the new Best Year stamp set.
~  Assemble the card together with Stampin' Seal adhesive over Pacific Point card stock and Thick Whisper White card stock.
~  Fussy cut the wooden dock and boat with our Paper Snips.
~  Adhere this to the front of the hand crafted card.
~  Using the Wink of Stella and flick sparkles across the front of this sponged card front.
~  SPRING it to the Next Level - using these Mini Springs designed for paper crafting and set the boat using this!
**Creating an interactive card that will have your husband, father and kids playing with it for days!**

Gearing Up with my son...

My boy... allow me to introduce my sweet and strong 15 year old young man... Sal.  He is the only boy with five sisters!  I am doing everything I can to raise him to be a good man, a man of God, a hard working man.. I pray he is much like my beloved Grandfather.  So when I was stuck with what to create this week.. he went right to this Geared Up Garage suite.  So I wrangled him in to helping me do my Facebook.com/GettingCrafty.net LIVE (to his dismay!).
I grew up in Santa Maria and East Los Angeles, CA.  Cars, vintage cars especially, are something I am passionate about and have passed down to my kids.

One of the things I love about our area is the local Cars and Coffee gatherings, the first and third Saturday of each month.  My son and I love to discuss the many paint jobs on the cars, pin striping to metallic, multi layered color with glitter.  It inspire this handmade card.
A unique color for these cool handmade Father's Day cards.
~ Stamp with Stazon black ink on the Silver Foil this Happy Father's Day and the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper the car (I looked for the lighter spot on this page of color).
TOOL TIP:  Many asked my why I used the Stazon ink on this project.  My son even knew - lol - with how much I create around him.  First of all, stamping on Foil Sheets limits what ink - it's a non-porous surface and the alcohol based ink sitting on the top allows for it to dry and remain.  Second, it smells like almonds - lol.  Third, I try to use only one black on a project for ease and less chance of losing something (my son did comment on that as well - ha, ha ha!).
~  Die-Cut the Father's Day greeting and car using the coordinating Garage Gears Thinlits.
~  Stamp the oil splatter on the bottom of the Balmy Blue card.
~  Emboss with the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder the Blueberry Bushel card stock.
~  Tear the side to create a 'tear it up' look.
~  Adhere the torn paper with the SNAIL adhesive and the Car and Greeting with the Stampin' Dimensional adhesive.
~  Using Glue Dots, rolled, adhere the Classic Garage Metal Element/key to the front.  I love a good car show and so does my family!

~  Add that 'metallic' paint with our Clear Wink of Stella glitter pen.
We love seeing the beautiful vintage rides, unique cars, new and old muscle cars.. and doing it together.
My boy did a great job on our Facebook.com/GettingCrafty.net LIVE, didn't he?!  Did YOU See it?!  Click the VIDEOS tab and enjoy his car wisdom and thoughts, along with our fun!

He's such a good young man!  I love my son.  I love his passion for God, family, cars, and life.  We had fun creating this car card together. I hope that this Father's Day races in to brighten the day of your loved ones.  Some day, this young man, will be a dad.  I pray that he will be an amazing husband and father.  What was YOUR Favorite thing he discussed??  Comment and let me know.

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
