Dresser dreams....

This year has been about stream lining, gleaning the old and getting organized.  So as we start the process of switching rooms for my kids and putting the youngest of my three girls into one room, look into two bunk beds as well as another dresser....

I stumbled upon a Dresser for FREE from our Neighbors!!  How cool is that?!?!  Funnily, as the husband helped me load it into my Excursion, he received the dresser from another neighbor - when his kids were my kids ages!!  So this antique looking dresser is going to the perfect home and at the perfect time... a dream come true!  (That saved $$ can go into more stampin' goodies - lol!)

This day and age, the Thank You card is few and far between.  I know I've suffered the life rushing me by and emailed a Thank You... but I couldn't resist creating a fun card to THANK my neighbors as I sent a little Thank You, above, for answered prayers!

Using the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack from the Spring Mini I created this fun 'wall paper' on the Crumb Cake Card Stock/base.  Cutting a 3" x 2" Chocolate Chip card stock for the Dresser Base.

Cutting 2-3/4" x 3/4" Chocolate Chip strips as the drawers.  The little 'knobs' and ball feet are from the Larger Whole Punch on the Crop-A-Dile.  Sponging the edges of the dresser and drawers in Chocolate Chip is a subtle way to add dimension and definition from item to item.  Stampin' Dimensional adhesive squares raise the drawers up as well as the dresser from the 'Wall Papered' background.
(When we moved in, the house was choking on floral wall paper and PINK - I'm far from floral or pink - lol... so I was 7 months pregnant when my husband came home to 1/2 stripped walls and bathroom... it's tougher than it looks - let me tell you! lol)

Have FUN when Crafting!
Be Creative when Thanking someone - or blessing them!!
I KNEW the moment Guy, my neighbor, kindly lifted the dresser into my loaded SUV - I had to send this family a big Thanks for blessing us!

This card is ideal for anyone who's moved recently
(my friend Carol made it for her friend who'd just moved),
a new baby (adding baby accessories to the drawers or top of dresser) and more!  What would YOU use this card for?!?!
(Leave me a comment and let me know!)

Create a fun framed sentiment with this Vintage Verses Stamp Set - FREE (!!!!) - from the Sale~A~Bration mini catalog!

The sentiment is too long for most of my punches - so grabbing the Decorative Label punch I showed Carol (she'd come over to visit when I'd gotten home w/ our new-to-us dresser!).

See HERE on how to add some fun to a sentiment that may be too long for a punch but you desire a decorative edge!:

(Excuse my lack of manicure - lol)
OK so I love that the Crumb Cake card stock and Chocolate Chip ink work so well together!  Stamping the sentiment on the strip of card stock I added dimension with the Sponging of the edges in Chocolate Chip Ink and tried to tie in the Midnight Muse flowers by highlighting parts of the stamp with the pen/slim side of the Stampin' Write Marker!

Simply take the strip, after stamped, and thread it into once side of the punch.  If the Sentiment is larger, like Carol's was, I used the wider edge of the punch.  Then Punch - repeat on the other - the side that is OUT of the punch will not be touched - so it really only adds a detail to the edges you feed in! (Easy Peasy!)

Doing both sides allows for a mirror image and looks great -
though one side could be fun, too!

Sponging the edges is quick and easy.
There is no 'wrong' way but I like to hold the stamped and punched image and 'flick' the edges with an inked sponge.
The MORE you apply, the more aged it looks...
the less, the more it resembles a subtle border.

What Dresser Dreams do YOU have?!?!
How do You Thank Someone??  (Do you?!?!)

What are YOU stream lining this year, in your life/home/family?!?!

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
