Smash This and That!

This and That Book??
WTHeck?!?!  I know... I was on the same boat... What is this thing they are pushing called a Smash Book and This and That Book?!?!!  Take MOST of what you know about scrapbooking and toss it out a window!  This is a switch but when I was commissioned to create a book for a soon-to-graduate student.... this is what I created... please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
The Stampin' Up! This and That book came out this Spring and I purchased it.  Then it sat there.  I was torn, what to do?!?  I'm not a journaling kind of girl, I'm used to scrapbooking the 'traditional' way... so what to do??

Here in our Catalog are the many Smash Book Options!  When my daughter's tutor and a family friend came over I asked her thoughts... she was beyond excited!  She informed me that they are very popular and she loves doing them!
Way affordable and after I worked on this wonderful book, I became a fan, too!  With many options, all lower cost... I like that it's affordable to most people!

The difference with a Smash Book, like our This and That book is that it's kitschy, a mish mash of textures, patterns and items.  Here I pierced the book and using our Seam Binding Ribbon and Antique Brads (#117273) added these sweet bows to the cover.
The Epic Day This and That Designer Stickers (#131271) layer over the pages and this Tea Lace Paper Doily (#129399).  The adhesive backed Pearls Basic Jewels.  Tie the Lace Doily in with our Delicate Details Lace Tape (#130966).
Here the Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper (#130814) has this great vintage patterned map.  It layers as a Lolly/Rosette for this Stamped Earth.. our school is Earths so this was an ideal embellishment!  Our Simply Scored Scoring Board (#126192) is a wonderful tool to have in any Crafter's cabinet!
Embossing the Honeycomb pattern with our Honeycomb Embossing Folder (#129378) and Big Shot (#113439) on our New Soho Subway Designer Series Paper (#130140) has this cool indy-wood patterned paper... it makes for a great embellishment on this This and That book - it has a honeycomb pattern pressed in, too!

Keep an eye out - I will be tying this up (like the ribbon tied rings??  Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (#127555) tie in and add a great vintage sparkle!

I will be posting the many pages I designed for this commissioned book, daily.  Please let me know what you think, with a comment and feel free to share this via email, Facebook, Tweet, Pin.. I would be honored to have you join me in this walk we call life!

Thank you for coming by and giving me a moment of your time!  Have a Rockin' Day!!

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
