Watermelon hand-stamped card

Celebrate life.  Sometimes it's hard to stay ahead of the demands of my family, work, life and find time to send my cards out on time (and my passion and business is cards!).  I try to find holidays that give me a chance to leave memories for my children and don't require me to do much work (motherhood, I'm just saying).  One of my favorite holidays to celebrate is in honor of one of my favorite fruit - National Watermelon Day is August 3rd!  See this fun card making video tutorial as I am planning some sweet fun for my family this week.  (Comment below what you think and I may send you this card!)

I love taking a different look at crafting (and life).  Here is a fun and easy spin on a stamp design in the Summer Sorbet stamp set.

Create this juicy card when you:
~ Using the 2015-17 In-Color Watermelon Wonder Stampin' Write Marker to color the inner part of the citrus stamp.
~ Use the 2015-17 In-Color Cucumber Crush Stampin' Write Marker to color the 'rind' of this stamp.
~ Using a permanent marker in black to color in the adhesive backed Rhinestone Jewels for a fun watermelon seed look.  Make sure to add one to the citrus center to cover that look.
~ Cut out with our awesome Paper Snips Scissors and adhere to the Whisper White card stock over the Watermelon Wonder car stock base with Stampin' Dimensional adhesive for additional depth.
~  Mimic the fruit design when you use the stamp Stampin' Write Markers to color in this greeting from the One Big Meaning stamp set (packed with many ways to say 'thanks'). Add that fun 'watermelon seed' to the greeting for extra whimsy.

CLICK HERE to see the holidays this month and find one that is fun and easy for you to celebrate and leave memories for those in your life.

I like mine with a little chili/lime/salt mix. Tajin on my watermelon reminds me of my childhood! (I'm going to try BBQ watermelon as I've seen on Pinterest lol.)

I simply adore this new Jar of Love stamp set and coordinating Everyday Jars Framelit Dies.  I love that it is bundled to save 10% when you purchase the two together! (squee!)  Here is a fun adaptation of what my friend is living in her new home.

How to create this pretty hand-stamped card:
~ Stamping with the Garden Green ink pad this Lovely As A Tree pine tree laid on it's side to create branches of a tree on this Smoky Slate Designer Series Paper (from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack).
~ Stamp the Jar of Love larger jar on the Vellum with the Black Archival ink pad.
~ Die Cut the handle (on the Silver Glimmer Paper) and jar (on the Vellum) with the Everyday Jars Framelits on the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and Magnetic Platform (to hold the framelit around the stamped image with ease).
~  Stamp the fire flies with the Black Archival ink pad on the Smoky Slate (Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack) patterned paper.
~ Use the Sponge Dauber and the Daffodil Delight ink pad to create this fun light up bum (lol).
~Adhere the vellum jar with glue dots on the rim and then cover it with the die-cut silver sparkle handle and mini glue dots.  (Make sure to link the handle to the 'tree branches' and cover some hand-stamped fire flies.)

**  ~  Ask ME how YOU can get the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machinefor FREE or 1/2 OFF!!  With a full collection from the one of the best catalogs in ages - you can be the first to enjoy the awesomeness and score the FREE Items when you book a Private Class with me!  Score the BEST Deal of $125 for only $99 and FREE Shipping when you take the starter kit home - a kit YOU Pick!!  ~  **
Take it up a notch.  Stamping on the inside is a fun way to continue the card and have even less space to write (lol).  Sometimes less is more, right?

Technique Idea:
~  It is so much fun to also stamp on the outside of our envelopes for a sneak peak on the beauty inside.
~  Even better... create a custom envelope in the Smoky Slate Designer Series Paper with the Envelope Punch Board.

Good-Bye Big Bear

A beautiful morning and the last day we had on the lake. We grabbed our kiddos, fishing gear and headed towards the dock for a little family time. Toasting the End of Summer and the Start of Fall!

It's OK, be in awe here. I am. The cool panorama feature on my phone. His Magesty requires a moment of AWE, doesn't it??

My Hubby gives safety and casting lessons to our youngest four.

I kept calling it Launching - lol - blame it on that my daughter spilled my coffee on the deck and I had three hours of sleep the night before.. lol.

No filters needed.

From one dock and my family to another dock it was a clear and beautiful morning. A wonderful to end the week!

We left here and it was 74* and clear. We headed down the mountain and stopped for lunch and it was 106*!  It cooled to 88* by the time we hit home (whew). We unloaded and hopped into our pool!  A blessed week, we are heading back to the grind of schools and life.
We hope you've enjoyed your summer and are getting ready for Fall (the second thing I did was pull my Fall Decorations when we got home!). Join Me for Fun Fall  Classes and Specials. Don't forget to Join My Mailing List for Cool Projects and Specials exclusive to the Gettin' Crafty Stampin' Mailing List. I look forward to seeing you soon!!  Celebrate the End of Summer and the Start of Fall with me!

Timeless Summer

The freedom as I peddled fast... as a child and as an adult, the bike has been essential to my summers (and life in general).  I love the natural air-conditioning of it, the low-cost maintenance, the freedom, being with nature, riding in busy cities... with memories of riding my bike with my cousin and aunt to now taking my kids for our rides... the Bike holds such great memories in its spokes!

Celebrate the End of Summer when you embrace the whimsy and fun that bikes can bring to you!!  I hope you feel it with this Timeless Summer Card!
This card mimics the vintage Polaroid photos of my youth - if you are young enough to remember snapping a shot, shaking it to make it develop faster - lol - to see that you had your eyes closed... ha, ha, ha....

With the fun memories of bikes, old and new, are easy to capture and this colorful shaker card is sure to add some sparkle to those memories!
Stamping this Timeless Talk stamp set (#126607) on a Shimmery White card stock (#101910) with Stazon Jet Black ink (#101406).  Using our Stamping Sponges (#101610) and with the help of my Color Coach (#130118) paired up Crushed Curry ink (#131173), Pumpkin Pie ink (#126945) and Melon Mambo ink (#126948).

Rubbing the Crushed Curry on the bottom, build up with Pumpkin Pie and top with Melon Mambo for this sparkling sunset feel.
Create this SHAKER CARD with our Shaker Frames (#124155), Window Sheets (#114323), and the aide of our 1-1/4" Circle Punch.
~ Stamp the wheel on the Window Sheet.
~ Punch out the bike center, adhere to the base of the card.
~ Apply Shaker Frame.
~ Add GLITTER... this post has two examples - Dazzling Diamonds (#102023) and Gold Stampin' Glitter (#132205 - Holiday Catalog pg. 29).
~ Remove Frame adhesive covering.
~ Apply Stamped Window Sheet.
~ Adhere the Stamped Bike above for this glittery shaker card.
Here it is embossed with the Framed Tulips embossing folder and with the Dazzling Diamond glitter.  The Shimmery White card stock really is a subtle but elegant touch.

Create a Polaroid when you layer this stamped and sponged image over a longer piece of Whisper White card stock (#100730).  Making the edges on the top and sides 1/4" and the bottom 1" so that it gives the vintage photo look.
Sunset wonder, isn't it?!?!  Worth of celebrating memories, birthdays, life!!
I prefer the Gold Stampin' Glitter... but oh the shaker aspect is a surprise, isn't it??
Embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#132175 Holiday catalog pg. 24) reminds me of the notes we'd write and send on post cards!  Attaching a polaroid - this'd be a vintage feeling scrapbook page!
I couldn't resist a small montage of personalized biking photos... from this summer and the fun my kids had to an older photo of my brother and I riding our monkey handled Schwinn's - lol.  I dig my patriotic basket and yellow jumper - bahahaha.

I hope that this card brings a smile to your face!  As Summer wraps up, go for it - grab a bike and take to the roads!  Feel the wind in your hair and the joy of seeing life fly by with the pumping of your feet!

Memories new and old roll along the wheels of life on a bike... from my Aunt D taking my cousin and I on rides on hot summer nights to chasing my brother through the neighborhoods.. now I cherish the moments my beloved children ride our neighborhoods, for frozen yogurt, to the library...  Celebrate the freedom, natural eco-friendly air conditioning of the bicycle!!  Happy End of Summer!  I hope you've captured a few memories with your Polaroid (well, I use my Iphone and Cannon - lol - these days).

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
