Oh I love, love, love the new Berry Basket Die for my Big-Shot Die-Cutting Machine!  It will die-cut and score the Berry Basket.  Here using the retired, thicker Holiday Designer Series paper to create a stand up-box.  (Using regular Designer Series Paper will not stand up, well, to much use - card stock or thicker paper is the best way to go.)

Butterfly hand-stamped wreath and dry erase board

I love butterflies!  We released live butterflies at our wedding and they are kind of like a family logo for us.  Most things in nature delight me.  Creating a fun Butterfly wreath and matching dry-erase board is easy and stunning with our Swallowtail stamp and this cool hand-stamped stained-glass technique.  These were created for the Best Selling Author, Brenda Novak's Diabetes Auction. Who knew that butterflies could fight diabetes??
Create this hand-stamped wreath with:
Swallowtail background stamp (wood 131943/clear 129216)
Vellum card stock (101856)
Aqua Painters (103954)
In-Color 2012-14 card stock (retired)
In-Color 2012-14 ink pads (retired)
Gumball Green In-Color 2012-14 ribbon (retired)
Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper (retired)
Versa Mark ink pad (102283)
Embossing Buddy (103083)
Black Embossing powder (109133)
Heat Tool (129053)
Butterfly Bigz Die (retired)
Spiral Flower Die (129379)
Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439)

This is how you do hand-stamped, mock stained-glass.  The secret to a better embossed image is to always prep the surface with the Embossing Buddy.

~ Prep the surface of the Vellum card stock with the Embossing Buddy by rubbing the EB over the surface of the Vellum.
~  Stamp the image (here the Swallowtail background stamp) with Versa Mark ink on the Vellum card stock.
~ Liberally cover with embossing powder (here the Black Embossing Powder)
~  Shake off the excess that the Versa Mark does not hold.
~  Heat set with the Heat Tool until completely shiny.  The secret to using the Heat Tool is to hold it at a 45* angle and do not move the Heat Tool until the Embossing Powder sets/turns shiny.  Move slowly across the surface of the image until the image is set as you go.  It is not a hair dryer.  It needs even heat to set properly.
~ Using the Aqua Pen in the ink pad (squish the ink pad while closed and open - you will have a collection of ink to use in water coloring).
Here the Gumball Green satin stitched ribbon (retired, sigh) is a bold and beautiful green that comes right from nature!  Wrap the ribbon around this wire wreath (I grabbed some on-sale through Amazon and have seen similar ones at the Dollar store).  Using the Hot Glue gun to secure the ribbon to the wire.  This will give a strong surface to adhere the Spiral Flower Die roses and the hand-stamped, stained-glass butterflies.

Using the rich In-Color 2012-14 retired card stock to create coordinating roses.  These Spiral Flower Roses are stunning and easy to create.  Using the Butterfly Die to create blank butterflies and adhere as 'filler' where there may be "open space".
Hot Glue the Butterflies and colorful roses to the ribbon covered wire wreath.  This will deliver a colorful greeting to all who see it.  (Keep a wreath like this inside - the paper could be ruined by the elements.)
Creating a coordinating dry erase board is a great way to give a deluxe gift.  Frame it in a frame of your choice and you have a stunning, coordinating dry erase board that will delight!  Adding a Spiral Flower Rose in the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper is a pretty 3D accent.  Hot glue is a wonder, isn't it??
Here with the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper as a base, prep, stamp and emboss the butterfly.  Using the Aqua Pen to color it in.

Butterflies are sure to delight as they are delicate while being strong, change to adapt and grow, colorful and light as a breeze.  The winner of the Brenda Novak Diabetes Auction took home this delightful collection of cards with the hand-stamped, stained-glass butterfly and rose wreath and the coordinating dry-erase board.  I love that paper-crafting and butterflies could help fight Diabetes!!

A Golden Anniversary Banner

'His banner, over me, is love'.... it is one of my favorite hymns.  Growing up, holding my Pappa and Nanna's hands, standing in the church that my Pappa built (and is still pastored by my family) I was surrounded by love and faith.  Love and faith are what is needed to make marriage (and life) possible.  In celebrating our beloved friends Dave and Donna, these hand-stamped banners were created to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Create these love filled handmade banners with:
Very Vanilla card stock (101650)
Blushing Bride card stock (131198)
Gold Foil Sheets (132622)
Gold Foil Designer Vellum (133363)
1/8" Circle Punch (134365)
Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies (retired)
Expressions Thinlit (retired)
Hearts Collection Framelits (125599)
Circles Colletion Framelits (130911)
Banner Framelits (132173)
Big Shot Magnetic Platform (130658)
Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439)
Gold Metallic Baker's Twine (132975)
Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive (110755)

Our dear friends live a life of faith and love.  When Donna was told she had less than 5% chance of surviving her rare cancer, she and Dave turned to prayer.  Donna is three years cancer free now.

So when we discussed the banner, I asked her to consult her husband and come up with some scriptures that were important to them.  They gave me 5 amazing verses.  Printing them on our Very Vanilla card stock made for easy and meaningful accents to the banners.

Creating these custom banners is easier than ever!  Place the cut card stock into the Circle Framelits on the bottom.  I added the smallest heart from the Hearts Framelits and rolled only this half into the Big Shot.  I did NOT roll the whole banner piece through - just the end on the framelits, this allows me to avoid creases in the top half of the banner.  The Magnetic Platform helps to hold the framelits right where you want them. (It is a must-have for all Big Shot owners!!)
This embodies the hanging banner of love for our beloved friends.  Using the Framelits to create banners for the names, the hearts of Very Vanilla and Blushing Bride card stocks under the same cut Gold Foil Vellum.  Adhere the Vellums to the card stock with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Do YOUR Cutting Pads warp over time??  See this fun video I created on how to fix it (and even how to ruin it - lol).

Laying it out... I'm a visual girl and in laying these out on our hearth to balance these banners made for an easy way to create these banners.

These stunning roses are fun to create!  With this gift of banners, these everlasting roses will adorn the banners and tables.. Click Here to see more on them.

Once laid out, punch the edges with the 1/8" circle Punch and thread the Gold Metallic Baker's Twine.  To prevent coming 'frazzled' lol.. see the secret to using this Baker's Twine and the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

These Golden Letters are easy to create.  The Typeset (Retired) Bigz Dies create the lovely names and the 50 for the banner.  The Expressions Thinlits (retired) give this stunning, delicate 'love' that fits perfectly on the banners (I used the 'heart' and placed the 'o' of the Love over it - it is super cute!!).

The fine tip on the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive (there are two tips) makes it easy to adhere the Gold Foil letters and 'love' for a delicate and beautiful look.

Faith and Love... it is what is needed to make it in marriage.  I love that hymn 'His banner, over me, is love' and it embodies the reason to join with Dave and Donna celebrate their 50th Anniversary.  In love and friendship for them, in remembrance of my Grandparent's love and faith filled marriage (they were married two weeks shy of 70 years).  These hand-crafted banners embodies our friends' walk in faith and love.  Celebrate those special moments in life with hand-stamped and crafted banners, flowers and gifts.  It is a blessing to be part of this celebration and to have them as our friends.  I miss my beloved Grandparents but I know that this would surely warm their hearts.

What Others are SAYING about Getting Crafty with Jamie

Jamie is so passionate and creative about making cards - and wants everyone else to join her in the fun! She is so encouraging and positive in her attitude, helping me along when I get frustrated - and then rejoicing with me at the finished product! I love going to her classes to get new ideas, learn techniques, and have loads of fun in the process. ~ Christine C.

Jamie has wicked awesome classes! If you don’t like a particular stamp or paper/ink color Jamie wants you to change it to suit your style! I did my sister-in-law’s entire bridal shower from invitations/thank you cards, party favors to decorations, it was quaint and whimsical! Everyone ooh’d and ahh’d! I’ve had lots of special requests for classes and Jamie delivers; she always has tasty treats and flavored coffees too ~Ashley W.

I have been attending Jamie's classes for over a year. Her ideas for cards are fresh and fun. She always tries to have several different styles of cards available, so everyone gets to make cards that fit their personal style. The techniques she shows each class can be used in many different applications. She is very patient teacher when instructing class members on how to use the Stampin Up products. ~ Carol D.

If I looked up the word sparkle in the dictionary, I would find Jamie Albanese picture there. I have had the sweet blessing of knowing Jamie and her family for over 5 years now. Every time I am with her I feel loved and inspired. When I am in one of her classes I feel my creative juices flow, as she encourages me to go outside my comfort zone. Jamie helped our girl scout troop make cards for a soldier who needed some encouragement!!! For any of you who have not been in one of Jamie's classes, please don't let another day slip by. She is a beautiful friend and she will become yours too. ~ Blessings, Karen:-)

Jamie has a great eye for style and flair, and it shows in her work. Yet she can pick up on your own individual style and makes great recommendations. I love that she is always flexible for last-minute decision maker mommies like me! So much fun to host craft events with your friends and family - that personal touch always means so much. ~ Adonna
